Established in 1982, The Alton Victorian Cricket Tournament (originally the Old Fashioned Cricket Tournament) began as a one day September challenge match between two of Alton’s most historic public houses, The Eight Bells and The French Horn. The event today is a tournament featuring nine teams of nine players, all of whom wear approximations of 19th century Victorian dress. The game between the two pubs, instituted by Alan Moxley (The Eight Bells) and Rod Ryan (The French Horn), survived most of the eighties and after a short gap, was resumed in 1991.
We’re sponsoring the event, to be held on the 23rd of June. Look forward to seeing you there!
